Nissan Versa Note- 2015

Nissan Versa Note- 2015

Plusses: The 2015 Nissan Versa Note is a surprisingly roomy (almost cavernous-feeling, especially with the leg room), peppy little economy car (and the fuel economy is very also good–31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway with the Xtronic CVT). Don’t let the 109 hp fool you–the CVT gearing helps the Note accelerate very well, and it makes good use of the power the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine puts out. The exterior styling is acceptable. Trim packages (such as the SR) spruce up the little Versa Note, giving it a sporty look. If Nissan would give it some more hp to go with those looks. Fuel economy, braking and handling also seem decent for its class.

Minuses: the interior is okay, but there still is an unwanted cheap feeling to some of the materials, but it doesn’t feel as bad as the Versa Sedan. Prospective buyers will either like, hate, or grow to accept the CVT powertrain with indifference. CVT’s aren’t perfect, but they can have their advantages.

Final Grade: The Car Exam gives the Versa Note an “A” grade. The Nissan Versa Note is a nice little car–it you need a small vehicle with lots of room and great gas mileage, the Versa Note may be worth a look if its reliablity holds up well.

Base M.S.R.P.: $14,180
